Skills acquisition:
The aim of this project is to continue enriching our skills and know-how in terms of fermentation, so that we can always offer the technology best suited to the needs of the projects we handle.

The first action will be to upgrade our “Airlift” type reactors to include dissolved oxygen monitoring/acquisition and a condenser to limit evaporation during experimentation.

A second action will be to draw up a list of sensors, sparger and blade references available on the market and of interest to our fermentation activities, whether on a laboratory or pilot scale. The most relevant equipments will be selected and ordered for testing.

At the same time, we will select a model process in line with our current projects, which involve finding an alternative to mechanically agitated fermenters. These often involve the cultivation of shear-sensitive microorganisms (fungi, microalgae, microscopic organisms), which are nonetheless aerobic.

After a phase of testing the modified equipment and added sensors, the equipment (sensors, paddles, spargers) will be implemented on the model process in order to compare the impact of shear and oxygen transfer according to different reactor technologies and configurations.
