The goal of this project is to create a new cellular micro-compartment through phase separation, in order to isolate a pool of Acetyl-CoA that is independent from the rest of the cell, in two model microorganisms: Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
The SOLID IMPACT project aims to understand the impact of two key parameters on the yield of solid-state fermentation (SSF): the level of contamination of biomass by endogenous microorganisms, and the heterogeneity of the substrate and surrounding environment.
The STTP 2024 project (with skills acquisition component) aims to revamp existing equipment at CRITT Bio-Industries (Air-Lift reactors) and implement a model process to compare the impact of shear and oxygen transfer on different reactor technologies and configurations.
